Discovery Sports Center Facility

This Sports Center is a state of the art mulit-sport indoor facility designed to compliment the Maryland SoccerPlex. The 66,000 square foot complex encompasses eight basketball and/or volleyball courts on a lined urethane surface from March to November. Beginning in November, there are two NHL hockey rinks complete with netting and a dasher board system and roll out a layer of artificial turf for indoor soccer, lacrosse, filed hockey, baseball, and rugby. The Center also features a café, arcade, and a party/conference room. The Discovery Sports Center has fully equipped men’s and women’s locker rooms and family bathrooms to compliment our indoor events as well as the Maryland SoccerPlex’s marquee stadium events. South Mountain State Battlefield Park

The State Battlefield park encompasses the three gaps of South Mountain (Crampton’s, Fox’s, and Turner’s gaps) that were the scene of the Sept 14, 1862 battle, just days before Antietam. Handicapped accessible.

Cunningham Falls State Park Thurmont

The park, located west of Thurmont, is named for a 78-foot cascading waterfall. Hiking, swimming, hunting, fishing, picnicking, boating, playgrounds, nine camper cabins, and 171 campsites in two areas available seasonally. The William Houck area has a 43 acre lake and trail to the Falls; Manor area includes Catoctin Furnace. Some facilities are handicapped accessible. VISA, MC

Cunningham Falls

The 78 foot cascading falls are located one half mile from the lake in the Houck Area via the Falls Trail near Frederick MD. In 1954, the area was split into two parks with Maryland Route 77 cutting between them. The northern 5,000 acres is a National Park: Catoctin Mountain Park. The remaining 5,000 acres comprise Cunningham Falls State Park.
